1. PUNPUN BARRAGE PROJECT

Punpun Barrage Project is situated in Aurangabad District of Bihar and command area lies in Patna, Arwal & Jahanabad districts. It envisages construction of Barrage and Canal system to cover CCA of 13,680 ha. The project on completion will created annual irrigation potential of 13,680 ha. Latest revised cost estimate of the project is Rs 658.12 Crore(2009 PL).

The project was included under AIBP during FY 2007-08 for Rs 199.41 Crore(2005-PL) and it is being monitored by Monitoring Directorate, CWC, Patna.

PROJECT COMPONENTS

  • A 178 m long Barrage at Hamidnagar in Goh Block of Aurangabad district.
  • Right branch Main Canal of 26.03 km length with Head discharge of 25.72 cumec.
  • A 10.524 km long Kinjardistributry with design of 3.85 cumec.
  • A 45.80 km long Branch canal viz. Punpun Br. Canal with design discharge of 21.87 cumec.

2. DURGAWATI RESERVOIR PROJECT

Durgawati Reservoir Project is situated in Kaimur & Rohtas districts of Bihar. Durgawati dam is an earthen dam across Durgawati river joining Shergarh hills on the right (in Rohtas district) and Rajdeo hills on the left (in Kaimur district). It envisages construction of a Dam and Canal System to cover CCA of 32,467 ha. The project under execution initially envisaged creation of Ultimate Irrigation Potential (UIP) of 36,317 ha area including 16020 ha potential created under Kudra Weir. Subsequently, re-modeling of Kudra Weir was taken up in the year 2003 which increased the UIP of Kudra Weir from 16,020 ha to 18080 ha. Accordingly, the UIP of Durgawati Reservoir Project (including Kudra Weir), works out to be 39,610 ha. The project was approved by Planning Commission in the year 2000-2001 for Rs 234.41 Cr. The Project was included under AIBP in FY 1996-97. The Revised Estimated Cost approved by Fast Track Proforma Clearance of the Project is Rs 1207.392 (Rs.971.967 AIBP) at PL -2017-18.

PROJECT COMPONENTS

  • Durgawati dam is an earthen dam across Durgawati river joining Shergarh hills on the right (in Rohtas district) and Rajdeo hills on the left (in Kaimur district).
  • An ogee spillway has been constructed at the right side of dam near Shergarh.
  • Two canals off take from either ends of the dam.
  • The length of Right Main Canal is 34.08 Km which irrigates areas in Rohtas district, while the length of Left Main Canal is 26.6 Km and which irrigates areas in Kaimur district.
  • The UIP of Kudra Weir is 18080 ha.
