Sidhartha Mitra, Director, National Water Academy is a 2002 batch CWES Officer. He had joined as Assistant Director at CWC Headquarter, New Delhi in September 2004 and was posted in Central Electricity Authority. He is Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) from Jadabpur University, Kolkata and M.Tech in Transportation Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has been awarded with silver medal for being overall topper in Civil Engineering at Post Graduate level.

He was posted in Thermal Civil Design Division, CEA till June 2015 before being transferred to NWA Pune as Deputy Director (Hydro Power). He was promoted as Director in NWA on June 2016.

The main types of works handled by him in TCD Division, CEA were Design and Engineering of Thermal Power Projects and Transmission Lines, Examination of quantity estimation and phasing of civil costs of Hydro Power Projects, Monitoring of fly ash generation and utilization in the country, Design and Engineering of EOT Power House Cranes of underground powerhouse of HE Projects, Examination of water availability and area drainage reports of Ultra Mega Power Projects etc.

His duties in National Water Academy include coordinate and conduct the training programs in respect of IT Field concerned with water resource developments, RS/GIS TOOLs etc.

His field of expertise include appraisal of DPRs (Externally aided projects), designing of hydro - mechanical equipment such as Vertical lift hydraulic gates (fixed wheel, slide), stoplogs, mechanical hoists, gantry cranes etc, Construction equipment and plant planning in respect of water resource projects, use of Hydro informatics tools such as Quantam GIS, GRASS, SAGA, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD, computer programming using C, C++, Visual C++, window programming, Device Driver Programming, testing & quality control of softwares.
